We all know how important it is to go to the doctors for a check-up to make sure everything is running smoothly. Well, the same goes for our vehicles ! When a car is designed, manufacturers set out a service schedule for the car, which they believe will keep it running reliably and safely.
If you are unsure about what type of service your require then be sure to check your manufacturers service book as this will have all of the relevant details in it. And don’t worry if you havent one we can find the details for you.
Cars 4x4s vans will typically receive one of the following services.
The services vary in price depending on how much work is needed to be done on the vehicle and which oil is specified to be used.
- Basic or Interim Service
- Full service / Inspection service
Basic or Interim Service
Each type of service builds on the previous level, so a basic service will typically include an oil and filter change, Pollen filter change and a visual inspection, but there will usually be a top up of all the key fluids in the engine (washer fluid, brake fluid, antifreeze and steering fluid) and a check of up to 50 key components to ensure your car is in the best condition possible. A good Audi garage will also check your brakes and manufacturer guidelines and recommend any additional work your car may need, however not all garages do this.
Major/Inspection Service
A Major/Inspection Service will include everything covered in an interim service but will also include a change of spark plugs, a change of fuel filters, a change of air filters and some other service/wear items that are recommended by the manufacturer’s schedule for the appropriate mileage or time.

This does not include any additional repair or maintenance work.

Additional items that Volkswagen, Audi , Seat, BMW, Bentley , Land Rover and Skoda recommend is:
- Brake fluid change every 2 years
- Air-conditioning re gas every 2 years
- Cam belt is very specific to the engine but roughly every 4 years or 75K or 110K depending on the vehicle also water pump on some models are changed at the same time.
